Jo is highly specialist in the field of Adult Learning Disabilities, with extensive experience in this field. Jo has a special interest in working with people with Mental Health problems (MH), Autism and Challenging Behaviour.
Jo is also highly specialist in the treatment and management of complex dysphagia. The majority of Jo’s experience has been working in Community Learning Disability Teams countrywide, as well as private sector companies specialising in Autism and Challenging behaviour.
Additionally, Jo has worked in a variety of other settings, both statutory (NHS) and private healthcare. These include: Stroke; Inpatient, Early Supported Discharge and Community Support, Older Adults Mental Health (CMHT), and Community Neurological Teams which provide services for people with Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and Huntington’s Disease. Children’s services have included: Children and Adolescent Mental health Service (CAMHS), which incorporated Learning Disability and ASD, and Special Needs School for physically and mentally impaired children.

Word finding difficulties (Aphasia) often seen after a Stroke
Quiet voice: commonly experienced by people with Parkinson’s Disease
Any difficulties with speech or communication as a result of neurological conditions, such as Dementia, MS, or Huntington’s disease
Acquired dysphagia as a result of any of the conditions listed above.
Stuttering/stammering: adults and children’s service
Selective Mutism: most commonly experienced in adolescence
Social Communication difficulties: commonly experienced by people with Autism or mental health issues.
Communication difficulties as a result of Learning Disability; Adults and Children’s service
Communication difficulties resulting from Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy (CP), or any other inherited condition.
Dysphagia resulting from Learning Disability or any syndrome or inherited conditions such as Down syndrome or CP
