Dr. Dinesh Kanaan

Dr Dinesh Kannan is a Consultant Psychiatrist with around 20 years of experience in providing holistic and evidence-based treatment for patients with various mental health conditions. He works in the NHS and Private Care, and specializes in neuro-developmental disorders, such as ADHD and autism, and trauma focused work, using EMDR therapy and psychological models. He has a medical degree, a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychiatry from Leeds University, and a Masters in Applied Neuroscience from Kings College London. Dr. Dinesh is also a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and holds multiple certifications and memberships in relevant associations.

Dr. Kannan is Section 12 (2) Approved under the Mental Health Act 1983 and holds Approved Clinician status.

Dr Kannan has around 20 years’ experience within the NHS, diagnosing and treating patients with mood disorders, psychosis, anxiety disorders, functional neurological illness, and eating disorder, using a multidisciplinary approach and collaborating with other professionals. He is also ADI-R and ADOS trained, which is the gold standard clinical diagnostic instrument for assessing autism. His goal is to help his patients achieve their full potential and improve their quality of life.

Dr. Kannan incorporates psychological models as part of the patient experience, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and offers EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapy.

His passion is to integrate psychiatry, neuroscience, and psychology to enhance the patient experience and outcomes.
