A day to bring awareness to the issused faced by people struggling with their mental healh, World Mental Health Day was established in 1992. Typically, Mental Health Awareness Week takes place in the week leading up to October 10th. 1 in 4 people will experience some kind of mental health problem in their lifetime, ranging from depression and anxiety, to bipolar disorder, achizophrenia and OCD.
October 10th is also World Homeless Day. Unfortunately, according to statistics discovered by the UN (2005), homelessness is on the rise. Over 100 million people worldwide are homeless, and on this day the emphasis is on people doing hands-on work locally to help those around them without homes.
