World Penguin Day

Penguins are the stars of the Southern Hemisphere! Many of these flightless seabird species call Antarctica and its sub-Antarctic islands home, so they're facing a challenge from global warming. Thats why we'd like to help to spread the word about Penguins today: Find out what you can do in your community or online to help penguins or to take action against global warming.

Fun fact about these wonderful creatures: Penguins are in a sort of long-distance relationship because they're rarely in the same place at the same time. Every year, the male waits at the nest for his mate. If she's died or simply returned to the nest too late, the other one looks for a new mate. If the late partner does turn up, the new partner is often chased away and the old pair brood together.
